All good things...

I have been putting off this post.
I didn't want to write it.

Because that meant I'd have to accept it.
That it was real.

T-ball ended two weeks ago.

And that makes me super sad.

(Insert super, super sad face)

Here are a "few" more pictures from the season, the final game and the end of season party.

Just in case you needed them.

Ok, who I am kidding, I need them.

(Warning: unorganized picture overload!)

Grandma M and Turtle:

Special super Saturday game at Cedar Field!!
 Miss Julie and Turtle:
Uncle Micah, Miss C and Turtle:

 Playing catcher:!!

 We Love our Boston Braves!

Because Turtle loved to play in the dirt and chalk so much, coach gave her a bag of field chalk!
We all got a good laugh out of that!

Thanks for a great season Boston Braves!!!

Its ok to be bored sometimes

Yesterday my friend and I met up to take our kids to the carnival that just started in town. It's part of the annual Strawberry festival that takes place near here.
The problem was, the website was wrong, and we were there 4 hours before it was actually going to open. :(

Needless to say, they were bummed at first, but we ended going to find other adventures, and had a super fun filled day in spite of.

This morning, my daughter woke up and immediately asked what the plan was for the day. I told her not much, we had a couple of errands, but otherwise no plan.
She then immediately started asking for another play date, or another trip to a park.
I told her no.
She got upset.

Kids get so used to having the everyday busyness of school, that they expect it to continue through the summer.
I know so many parents that freak out about having to schedule events all summer long to constantly keep their kids stimulated.
Not us.
I have decided that my summer moto will always be, (through high school): "It's ok to be bored sometimes."

Kids need to learn to use their imaginations and it's not going to happen if they are constantly in front of the tv, or have events scheduled for them all the time.

It's ok to be home with nothing to do.

I think adults should try it too...

Because it's ok to be bored sometimes.

Our Father's Day 2014

Father's Day was low key again this year for us.
Josh worked Saturday, so we went to church Saturday evening so he could sleep in Sunday morning.
We had a super lazy Sunday morning, I fixed a big breakfast and then we went over to my mother-in-laws for Sunday dinner.

Yeah so I know roses don't make you think of Dads, but I couldn't leave it out.

 Father's Day nap. :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day!

Supporting Awesome Dads

"It is a wise father that knows his own child." ~Shakespeare

"Mothers play an important role as the heart of the home, but this in no way lessens the equally important role fathers should play, as head of the home, in nurturing, training, and loving their children," ~Ezra Taft Benson

I could sit here, going on and on about how awesome my husband is, or thanking my dad, but I want to turn the tables a little bit.
I want to talk to the wives or influential women of these Dads.

You say what Marcella?

Yep.

I want to speak to these women about the power they have to make or break these men.

"Daddy doesn't do it right."
"Daddy is never around."
"Your Dad spends too much."
"He's so lazy."     (Never mind the fact he just worked a 12 hour day.)
"He only thinks about food."
"If only he did more around the house."

Complain, complain, complain.
Nag, nag, nag.

Your children are watching you...

Your children are listening to every thing you say about your spouse.

What if we constantly lifted our husbands up?
What if we constantly praised the fathers of our children?
What if we thanked them more often?
What if we prayed for them more?
What if we did everything possible to make it a cinch for these men to be awesome Dads?

Let's make our children's father, their hero.

Happy Father's Day to our hero.

My graduate :)

It seems like just yesterday I was sharing my anxieties and thoughts on the blog with you.
The decision was made and I have not regretted it for one second.
This year was filled with so many crazy ups and downs for our family, I was so glad Turtle had the stableness of the same school the whole time.

She made so many great pals and even though we knew saying goodbye was going to be bittersweet, we won't ever forget the memories...

So quickly we went from the first day of school to the last.

Today's favorites:
Favorite color: Still pink and purple
Favorite food: yogurt and apples
Favorite thing to do: homework
Favorite school subject: poems
Favorite movie: Frozen
Favorite thing about the last day of school: cookies and juice :)

A and Mrs D:
Graduation gift: (a turtle for Turtle)

My Graduate;  Kindergarten class of 2014:
(What she wants to be when she grows up apparently.)

Change is inevitable, especially for this sweet girl.
On to a new school again in the fall!
