Thankful Thursdays

Hello All,
I've been taking an, originally unattended and then kind of gladly welcomed, 95% break from blogging.....

But then my friend Lisa from A Chance to Bloom contacted me to link up with her new Thankful Thursday blog link up.

I have been overwhelmed with home schooling, life and focusing on the negative, stress, and anxiety of our future and the circumstances that are bringing us there and I need to back off and focus on the good things.
This is a great opportunity to step back and remember the important things on a daily/weekly basis.

Life is always a little brighter when you count your blessings.

I know I could start out by saying I'm thankful for my family, but I'm always thankful for my family. Today I want to make an effort to be thankful for the things that seem to be a negative or a hassle.

~I am thankful for our government. Well I of all people could start to rattle off a million and one things to complain about it, think about where our country would be if we didn't have a governing body over the nation.

~I am thankful for my ability to vote and that I do vote. We are not controlled by a dictator or someone we are stuck with forever. We have the ability to select a new leader.

~I am thankful for our house and the community we live in. {This may be a general one for most, but umm, yeah not so much for me.} I think it has brought our family closer together under the circumstances and reminds me I'm not that bad of a parent or wife. ;)

~I am thankful for the huge scar on my upper stomach. It's a reminder that skin cancer is not to be taken lightly.

~I am thankful for Naval Medicine. I don't even want to imagine the debt we would have built up if all of our health issues hadn't been covered.

~I am thankful for Southern California's Fall, it makes me even more thankful for the Pacific Northwest. ;) (Did I mention it's suppose to be in the 90's next week??)

~And even though I have always been thankful for the military, and for being a Marine Corps family, I am thankful for the time here in Camp P. {Another hard one to swallow.}
It has taught us A LOT about ourselves and what we really want out of life.

Dear Teenage Me:

Linking up today with chatting at the sky for Dear Me! (Letters to your teenage self.)

Let go.

Don't always think you have to be on top of things. People don't always like an organized know it all.

Remember that reading is important but so is doing stuff with people.

Get out more.

Be thankful for the responsibility you had at a very young age; it will come in very handy for your future.

Don't worry that guys never pay attention to you. The RIGHT one comes along at the right time!

Don't be afraid to say no when you're worn out; but don't be afraid to say yes to opportunities.

Don't complain about your straight hair. It gets really frizzy and wavy after you have kids and you'll miss it big time!

Read the Word a lot more and spend time with God. There's nothing like having verses to cling to when things are difficult.

Learn how to do ALL household things, car maintenance and everyday life things by yourself; It will come in VERY handy for your future! ;)

Keep up the patriotism you've got going. Some people might think you're odd, but I love that about you.

You can keep saying you'll never marry a man in uniform, but honey, we all know what the name of this blog is! ;)

Oh please please please learn how to cook and don't be so rebellious when it comes to learning anything about cooking/baking!

Forgive; bitterness is a cancer.

Btw, there will come a point in time where you can't get by with not working out and eating whatever you want, so please start a better habit. (you won't always have that 15 year old figure!)

Ask for help; It's not a sign of weakness. You can't figure out everything on your own and there will come a point in time where things will get really tough if you hold it all in.

Most importantly
Thank you:
Thank you for being a goodie goodie that never wanted to get in trouble.
Thank you for having morals and values and sticking with them.
Thank you for taking lots of pictures.
Thank you for loving on family.
Thank you for faithfully praying for a certain someone for 5 years.

Thank you~

 ~for being me.

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11

My Last Name

Today is "kind of" special.

Ok so I know the rest of the US (and many other countries that were affected by 9/11,) feel that today is special, but in our household, today is EXTRA special.

For those that are new to the blog, today is my husband and I's wedding anniversary. :)

Now I'm not about to get all mushy or post something that I've said before in a post or on facebook, but while we were dating, this song by Dierks Bentley came out:

When we got married, we had absolutely NO money. My husband felt really bad he couldn't even buy me an engagement ring or anything else for that matter.
I heard this song and made him listen to it back then. He didn't really get it at the time, but it meant the world to me. All I cared about was marrying him and becoming his wife.
Him accepting me for who I was and wanting to spend the rest of his life with me meant more than some expensive ring, a huge house or lots of money.

In fact, we spent probably a total of $60 on our wedding and that included the marriage license.
Every time I see a bride getting stressed over funds for a huge wedding or focusing on the wedding itself instead of who she is marrying,
I have to smile to myself and
thank the good Lord we didn't go into debt or have any stress surrounding our big day.

By the time we decided to get married before boot camp instead of after, it was August and time to pick a date. When I looked at the calender and saw that 9/11 fell on a Saturday,
I knew it was perfect for us!

It would be a constant reminder of why my husband served,
even when things got tough.

And after 8 crazy years, I am ever SO thankful for the gift of his last name!
Happy Anniversary Babe, I love you!!

Holiday weekends make me procastinate

All of you that continue to roll out blogs and run a household and have a full time job:

You amaze me....

Preschool at our house starts tomorrow.

Potty training is in full force. (Dear God we're going to need a new carpet.)

The wedding pictures are edited and ready to post, but I just haven't put the posts together.
Maybe I should just wait until the professional pics are done and put them all up together.
....Cuz it's gonna take like 4 posts anyway.

Our future is changing.

I am scared.

Way less excited than I thought I'd be.

I don't know if I'm ready for this.

I need more ice cream to think it through.
