Who knew?!

Who knew all these changes would take place in 2012?

Who knew we would go through all these trials and struggles?

Who knew we'd reach such a low point?

Who knew we'd find friendship in such an unexpected place?

God knew.

Just like He knows exactly what is coming our way in 2013.
Whether it be good, bad, happy or sad;
He will be right there, walking with us or carrying us.

The R family

Hello Blog world, I don't even know what's going on anymore....and I probably still won't, but I had to jump on and share a last minute photo shoot from last Friday night.

A family from our church called and asked if I'd take a few pics before they left on their holiday and it turned into a fun photo shoot!!
It took the boys a few minutes to warm up, but once the smiles started, they wouldn't stop!

 My personal favorite:

Thanks R family for sharing your photogenic smiles and for letting me practice!

Still praying

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit.

When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil,

prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc.

Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history.

Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries.

This is a historical fact.

What has happened to us as a nation?

We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence."

-Darrell Scott.
(Father of Rachel Joy Scott killed 4/20/99 at Columbine)

We need to show them how to fill their voids...

"A Christmas Prayer"

I just have to share this.
I have no words....just a heavy heart, damp eyes and prayers abundant.

Dear Jesus,

It's a good thing you were born at night. This world sure seems dark. I have a good eye for silver linings. But they seem dimmer lately.
These killings, Lord. These children, Lord. Innocence violated. Raw evil demonstrated.
The whole world seems on edge. Trigger-happy. Ticked off. We hear threats of chemical weapons and nuclear bombs. Are we one button-push away from annihilation?
Your world seems a bit darker this Christmas. But you were born in the dark, right? You came at night. The shepherds were nightshift workers. The Wise Men followed a star. Your first cries were heard in the shadows. To see your face, Mary and Joseph needed a candle flame. It was dark. Dark with Herod's jealousy. Dark with Roman oppression. Dark with poverty. Dark with violence.
Herod went on a rampage, killing babies. Joseph took you and your mom into Egypt. You were an immigrant before you were a Nazarene.
Oh, Lord Jesus, you entered the dark world of your day. Won't you enter ours? We are weary of bloodshed. We, like the wise men, are looking for a star. We, like the shepherds, are kneeling at a manger.
This Christmas, we ask you, heal us, help us, be born anew in us.

Your Children

How do you guys do it?!!

I love to write, (or I should say ramble,) but with all that's happening, my thoughts and blog posts are not making it out of my head.

I wish I could dictate my thoughts to someone and have them type it up because I am failing miserably.
We are barely fitting in school three times a week as it is!

I would love to say after the holidays, but that is when the packing and moving prep will begin so I doubt the typing will start to flow then......

You guys amaze me...you must not sleep at night!!

Before I leave you with this, anything but update, update, I am asking EVERYONE, (even those that read but don't comment,) for suggestions on what to rename the blog???
We won't know for a few months yet if we are still going to be a military family after this spring, and I don't want to start a whole new blog, but I'd like to get the ball rolling for name suggestions if I decide to rename it...

I do hope you all are doing well and I can't wait for the time where I can be fully apart of blog land again, but in the mean time I hope you all are focusing on the true meaning of Christmas and spending as much time with family and friends as possible!! For those that have close loved ones deployed this Christmas season, I send all my love, hugs and prayers your way.

That's all that matters

As you all know, bloggers and a lot of people on facebook have been doing the November thankful days...
But I noticed especially this week, people have either forgotten, been negative, complained or stressed about a lot of things. (where they are going for Thanksgiving, food prep, Black Friday, and illnesses etc.)
I'm not sure if it has something to do with the fact that my husband has been gone for so many holidays, but when he is home, that is all that matters....

Who cares if your house won't be clean enough?

Who cares if you are going to your in-laws instead?

Who cares if the food isn't cooked right?

Who cares if money is tight?

Who cares if the kids are sick and your plans have changed?? (Ahem!)

I find it so funny how people's attitudes can change so quickly and how easy it is to toss aside what this day is all about.

To tell you the truth, I am scared to go back to civilian life and forget what's it's like to have the simple holidays where the focus stays where it's suppose to be.
I'm not looking forward to the relatives always getting hurt or annoyed because we have to trade off.
I'm not looking forward to people complaining about the turkey being cooked right.

Who cares!

You look around your house and you thank God for everything He's given you.

You blow your nose and take your cough medicine and you Thank God that you aren't dying of cancer and for modern medicine.

Most importantly, you look around at the people that you are spending it with and thank God for relationships, (even if they are annoying!) ;)

I went to one of my physical therapy appointments this past Monday and while I discussed our plans with the physical therapist, she said I was the calmest, most stress free person that she ever talked to concerning the holidays.

Seriously, why would I stress about an awesome time of year that is NOT about me as an individual?!!

If you are overwhelmed and stressed, maybe it's time to rethink how much is on your plate, cut back and keep it simple.

So this weekend, I will curl up with my really sick babies and thank God for the chance to do that and even more that my husband is home and with us!!

Happy simple stress free Thanksgiving to you all!!

I use to think you were crazy

I'm not a trusting person.
Like seriously, you have to prove yourself extremely worthy before I trust you with anything.

I miss out on making money selling our second hand things because I don't trust people on sites like craigslist, ebay, or resale groups on fb etc.

And internet dating; ha not in this world! {Not that dating is necessary for me anymore, but you get my drift ;)}
I think maybe it's because I watch too much of Dateline or other shows like that, and I'm always concerned I'm going to get stuck with the wackos...

When I started getting into the blog world more and more, I found out that a lot of people, (a lot of you,) actually ended up becoming friends in the "real" world and I use to think that was crazy.
Which leads me to this post....

Over a year ago, I was scrolling through blogs on a fellow military wife's reading list and a name caught my eye. You can imagine my peaked interest when the last name on the blog was one letter different than my last name. {Our last name is more common than my maiden name, but is still not as common as Smith or Johnson or something.}
I immediately clicked on her blog and found out we were stationed at the same base and her and her husband were both Marines. I started following her blog and found out we had a lot in common!
Anyway, to try to make this rambling story shorter, {that's what I get for writing this at midnight,} we struck up a friendship on our blogs, which eventually led to facebook.
Due to schedules and the craziness of our lives we didn't get to actually meet face to face until last month, but we finally got our families together and had a blast.

The sad part is, it was just weeks before she got out of the military and moved to Boston where her husband is currently stationed. :(

I am so so glad we got to meet though before she left and I thank God He brought them into our lives!!
Meet Mrs Romer, stop by her blog, leave some love and follow her as they start their new adventures together in Boston!!

Some family fun at our get together:

Fast friends!!
So don't get me wrong, I still am going to have my major paranoia with people online....but sometimes you have to take chances!!

Thank you

Tuesday was hard to swallow,
even yesterday felt off, (as a Marine Corps family,)
but today;
No one can take that away.

Thank you Veterans!

1 John 4

New International Version (NIV)

On Denying the Incarnation

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

God’s Love and Ours

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Aww SOAP you have gotten me once again....

Freedom of Choice

...to do the right thing:

So get out there and cast your vote!

03 November, 2012

It seems my last post stirred up a bit of confusion with some people and I just want to clear up some things, (well as much as I can because there are a lot of things still up in the air.)

I am from Oregon, born and raised, except for two years of my life that I lived in an area north of Seattle.
In my 8 years of being a Marine wife and living away from home, I have never found a place that is as wonderful as the Pacific Northwest, (at least in my opinion...)

Moving to the Seattle area and living so close to family and friends, is NOT what has me a "little" paranoid and freaked out about our move and future....

It's the circumstances on why we're moving....

It's the letting my husband and God take control of our future and completely letting go of things I have NO control over.

It's the saying goodbye to Active Duty Marine Corps life....

Yep I just said that.

No we aren't leaving the military altogether, we are just saying goodbye to the Marine Corps.

I should be jumping for joy,
but instead I am freaked out.

I told you more than I should have, but I like prayers and I'm sure it's easier to pray when you have more info.

In All Things

I wish I could tell you more than these pictures say, but I don't know much more.
In a military lifestyle change is always inevitable, but this time the change will be different and major.

We will go through the holidays and keep life as normal as possible and then I will be personally packing up our lives again.

The only thing I can share with you at this point is that more than likely this will become our new home next spring:

Please Pray with us as we strive to seek God's will for our future!
